Born in the 1940s to honor RAF pilots, the Air-King spent decated as Rolex's entry point to Oyster precision. By 2007 Rolex gave it one last 34mm run on reference 1114200 before retiring the case size entirely in 2014. This blue concentric variant became the sleeper of that final generation, discontinued just as collectors started paying attention. It shares DNA with the modern 40mm 116900, but this is the original blueprint in its purest form.
The dial is what stops ou. Concentric rings ripple outward from the center, catching light and throwing it back in waves. Deep Rolex blue meets warm orange Arabic numerals, applied 6 at the base, luminous Mercedes hands sweepping clean. Undated and uncluttered, 34mm of Oystersteel with a polished smooth bezel that frames without competing. Caliber 3130 inside delivers Superlative Chronometer certainty and 48 hours of reserve.
The Oyster bracelet with Oysterclasp keep it flat to the wrist and secure. Making this a perfect addition for the people who understand that the best chapters of Rolex history were written quietly, and that some of them you can still strap to your wrist today.
